Although a traditional liposuction is still the proven way to get the best results, there are several types of non invasive liposuction treatments, one of which if very controversial.

mesotherapy/lipodissolve/injection lipolysis: This type of treatment essentially involves melting away the fat. Although this treatment won’t get rid of mass quantities of fat, it can remove smaller deposits such as those in the love handle area and in the face by injecting a solution through the skin into the fat. Although this procedure is painless and does not require an anesthesia, there are a host of issues associated with it. The effects of melting away your fat are not yet known. Supposedly the fat is removed from urine. But because this fat is reabsorbed into your body it may increase cholesterol in your blood and damage your liver. Furthermore, this type of non invasive liposuction treatment is not approved by the FDA, nor is it recommended by Pittsburgh plastic surgeons, or any plastic surgeon for that matter. It is even being banned in some states. There is also no standard solution for lipodissolve because plastic surgeons use different ingredients. Although Thermage has been suggested to melt away fat, it is a skin tightening treatment. Any suggested fat loss is unintended and very minor.

Bottom line-Because of the ambiguity of a mesotherapy/Lipodissolve treatment you may very well be better off getting a traditional liposuction or none at all. Fact is, a liposuction, invasive or non invasive, is not an alternative to dieting and exercise. Furthermore, it’s not like you’re going to lose 40, 30, or even 20 pounds with a liposuction. Expect to lose 10 pounds or less. Side effects of traditional liposuctions include swelling, redness, and general pain. There can be long term complications from liposuction, but they only happen to less than one percent of patients.

UltraShape: Works by beaming ultrasound waves into the fatty tissue. It is not available in the U.S. and is very expensive (it can get up into the $5,000 range, if not more). Due to the non invasive liposuction cost and the minimal fat loss, it better that you pass on this.

Diet & Exercise: Okay, these may not be the non invasive liposuction options you were hoping to see, but, fact is, if you want to make any significant changes in your life you are going to have to work at it. One exercise method for fast weight loss is High Intensity Interval Training. It is what its name implies, intense.

Often times, a liposuction is combined with a tummy tuck. For more information, check out the Tummy Tuck Prices Guide.

Chicago liposuction 2 years ago

I had Smart Lipo done on my chin, upper and lower abdomen and inner thighs. These were areas that were just not going away with diet and exercise.

I looked at the areas that I had done when I got home that afternoon and I could tell that they looked much better, that quickly, that is until the swelling set in! I am 6 days out and still pretty swollen. My draining only lasted for about 12 hours after I came home. I still have some pain in a few spots, but it’s really not that bad.

Of the areas that I had done, the chin was the most painful for me. I highly recommend Arnica cream or Arnicare gel. I used it 3 times a day and had only very faint bruising. I am very happy with my results thus far and cannot wait to see what the end results will be.
